Protecting Westport’s Rural Character
Prior to election to Select Board, I served for nearly a decade on the Westport Conservation Commission – the town board dedicated to protecting our wetlands. I was inspired to volunteer for this position because I saw first hand how important it is to balance development with environmental conservation in order to preserve the rural beauty of Westport. I also represented the Conservation Commission on the Westport Climate Resiliency Committee and as Chairman of the Offshore Wind Advisory Committee. I am grateful to live in a town with such natural diversity – forest, wetlands, river, beach and more – and I am dedicated to protecting these resources for future generations.
Advocating for Westport’s Taxpayers
Our property tax dollars must be spent strategically and responsibly. Since elected, I have treat your tax dollars with respect and made sure that all spending decisions are based on solid evidence. With many in our community are on fixed incomes and small business revenue, or raising families in a time of rising prices, Westport must balance its budget conservatively and set priorities as we all must do with our own resources. That's why I challenged unnecessary spending, including a proposed six-figure town engineer position.
Defending Westport’s Families & Economy
Whether it is supporting family businesses or providing services for our seniors or strengthening our school system, I believe families are the backbone of our community. I’m especially proud to support the organizations that make Westport special. As promised, I donated my Select Board salary to Westport organizations including the VFW, 4th of July Parade Committee, Westport River Watershed Alliance, Food Pantry, Land Conservation Trust, Council on Aging, Education Fund, Babe Ruth League, Youth Basketball League, and the Women’s Center of New Bedford through the Westport Police.
